Naturopathic doctors are educated and trained in accredited naturopathic medical colleges. They diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health by supporting the person's inherent self-healing process. Rather than just suppressing symptoms, naturopathic doctors work to identify underlying causes of illness, and develop personalized treatment plans to address them.

It’s great to have both on your healthcare team! A naturopathic doctor (ND) consult is longer (initial is 60 minutes, follow ups are anywhere from 15-45 minutes) so we have time to dive into your chief concerns and how this connects with your past medical history. We also have time to co-create a plan.

Naturopathic doctors are not covered by MSP, however, if you have extended health care benefits the fees may be entirely or partially covered depending on your plan. NDs can also order blood work by providing a requisition for Lifelabs, however this is also not covered by MPS and coverage will depend on your extended health care benefits.

Like your MD, I can prescribe pharmaceutical medications.

Your initial assessment is an hour long, so we have time to really dive into your chief concerns, medical history and co-create a treatment plan together.

Prior to your visit I’ve already reviewed your intake form, we may have met for a discovery call (which I love to start with, if you can book this before your initial visit!) and I've started to create a plan. During your visit, I'm putting all the pieces of your story together so we can decide on the best approach for your care.

Afterwards, you will receive a detailed summary of your treatment plan and next steps.

Iron infusions are a therapy used if you have had a hematology panel and ferritin blood work within the last 3 months, showing low ferritin. BC Guidelines indicate it is necessary to start with oral iron supplementation for at least 1 month first, moving on to infusion if your symptoms do not improve or if you cannot tolerate the supplement due to indigestion, nausea or other symptoms.
